According to preliminary information from the CoES, as a result of a natural disaster on March 23, three residents of the Gorno-Matchinsky district received minor injuries, including 2 men and 1 woman. 14 cattle, 52 sheep and 2 horses died.

On March 23, 2023, two earthquakes were registered on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan. The first happened at 1:07 local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was registered 6-7 km from the village of Paldorak, Langar rural jamoat, Gorno-Mastchinsky district, Sughd region.

The strength of the tremors in the epicenter was 5-6 points, in the Rasht district 4-5 points, in the city of Dushanbe 3-4 points.

The second earthquake was recorded at a depth of 40 kilometers at 07:53 local time, this time the force of the shocks was 4.8 points.

In the city of Dushanbe, the strength of the tremors was 1-2 points, in the Rasht region 2 points.

On the same day, a republican commission was established under the leadership of the country’s prime minister, Kokhir Rasulzoda. He himself visited the villages of the Gorno-Matchinsky district.

As a result of the earthquake, partial damages (cracks in the walls) were revealed in 27 residential buildings in the villages of Porvog, Duoba, Saridasht and Takoba of the Takoba rural jamoat of the Rasht region.

Also, in the village of Tegirmi of the rural jamoat of Mehrabad, Nurabad district, the earthquake caused serious damage to two residential buildings, and partial damage was caused to 10 residential buildings, one educational institution and the building of the district executive body.

In the Sangvor district, in the Farqing village of the Tavildara rural jamoat, one residential building was partially damaged (cracks in the walls).

The amount and amount of damage to residential buildings and subsidiary farms are established by the republican and regional commissions.
