Hinds County and Jackson leaders came together Wednesday to hold Partners in Public Safety, a crime forum addressing safety and violence in the Jackson community.
The Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership hosted the forum, which included panelists Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, Capitol police Chief Bo Luckey, District Attorney Jody Owens and Jackson police Chief Joseph Wade.
“Our Partners in Public Safety Forum is a chance for the community to meet all the leadership from all the different law enforcement agencies that not only serve the city of Jackson, but also serve Hinds County,” said Jeff Rent, the chamber president and CEO.
The main point across the board is cooperation among all the law enforcement agencies to make Jackson a safer community.
Luckey said the Capitol Police jurisdiction will stretch further into the city so officers can help the Jackson Police Department as best they can. He also mentioned creating a network where 911 calls in their jurisdiction will be wired directly to them without having to dial a separate number.
